Leatherhead AHEAD launches its website
www.leatherheadahead.org.uk

As part of our campaign for better parking and access for Leatherhead we have launched our own website. Our intention is to help promote the town and at the same time explain why we exist and how things could be better.

The website’s main features are:

We describe the continuing quest for information from Surrey County Council and Mole Valley District Council about the huge sums of public money spent on the Phase II works which do not achieve any of the Councils’ stated aims.

We are developing pages which show the road and pedestrian signs in and around the town to assist the debate on getting these improved. The images speak for themselves - some current signs are inadequate and misleading and very confusing for visitors. [In the first Leatherhead Directory, produced in 2003 by Mole Valley District Council, the map inside shows the roads around Leatherhead with no indication that there is a one-way system. The area of the ramps is shown as an open crossroads with access from all sides, clearly indicating that traffic could travel in all directions including up and down the High Street.]

We are very grateful to Frank Haslam whose invaluable expertise has made this website possible.

Good news for the town

The First Leatherhead Drama Festival was held during the week 3rd - 8th May and was a great success. Sir Michael Caine CBE presented the awards named after him to the winners. Richard Houghton and his festival committee are to be congratulated on their achievement.
